CITY OF WILDWOOD WATER UTILITY
WATER METER READER/REPAIRER
The duties of this position include installing, maintaining, and repairing mains, valves, pumps, hydrants, and other water service equipment; performing water meter reading, installation, replacement and maintenance; performing all other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of procedures used in making routine and complex repairs to water mains, pipes, and appurtenances.
Knowledge of varied types of tools used in maintenance and repair of water installations.
Ability to understand, recall, and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to learn quickly from oral and written explanations and from demonstrations.
Ability to work with others.
Ability to work for long periods in emergencies and remain until all repairs have been made.
Ability to operate an air compressor and skillfully use other specialized tools and equipment.
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical conditions adequate to perform required tasks, including ability to lift loads of greater than 50 lbs.
Withstand to frequently work in adverse weather conditions.
LICENSE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Applicants must possess a valid NJ Driver’s License and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and motor vehicle record check.
