The Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health has announced a new effort to share updated cancer burden information with communities across Atlantic and Cape May counties. Their goal is to support local partners, policymakers, and residents with timely data that can improve cancer prevention and early detection.
Recent regional data shows that both Atlantic and Cape May counties continue to experience cancer incidence rates higher than the New Jersey average, including significantly elevated lung cancer rates. The coalition is emphasizing the importance of early screening, noting that low-dose CT scans can reduce lung cancer deaths by 20 percent and improve survival when cancer is found early.
The coalition will continue providing regular updates to help guide community health efforts and strengthen collaboration across the region.
