WILDWOODS WALKATHON TO RAISE FUNDS FOR UKRAINIAN RELIEF

WILDWOOD, NJ – The Annual Wildwoods Walkathon will be taking place at 9:00am to 12:00pm on Monday, April 18th (rain date April 25th) at J. Byrne Community Center, 401 Youngs Avenue, Wildwood, NJ, 08260.

This year’s goal is to raise $5,000 and to send 100% of the funds to Ukrainian Relief via the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) . UCCA is a not-for-profit organization that has been representing the interests of nearly 2 million Americans of Ukrainian descent since 1940. In late January, the UCCA launched a nationwide fundraising campaign to support Ukraine. Since that time, UCCA has distributed an enormous amount of assistance, leveraging contacts and partnering with organizations on the ground in Ukraine. They have been able to procure and deliver vital medical and pharmaceutical supplies; support food kitchens in western Ukraine that have been feeding Ukrainians fleeing the ravages of war; providing general humanitarian assistance to refugees just over the border in Poland, among other initiatives.

President Emeritus of UCCA, Tamara Gallo-Olexy says, “Ukrainians are fighting today in defense of our shared American and Ukrainian democratic ideals. They are standing on the front lines of democracy - and their success is in the national interests of the United States and the entire democratic world.”

Tamara’s parents, Wildwood Crest residents Ken and Zeirka Gallo, will accept the check on behalf of the UCCA. The Walkathon is accepting cash or checks made payable to Wildwoods Walkathon. Those who cannot attend but who wish to support this relief effort may mail checks to 5910 Seaview Avenue, Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260.
