The City of Wildwood is proud to announce the official Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony for the recently upgraded Byrne Community Center, taking place on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 12:00 PM at 401 W. Youngs Avenue.
These long-awaited improvements were made possible through a $4,009,625 Cape May County Open Spaces Grant. The funding has allowed the City to complete a major overhaul of the Byrne Community Center’s outdoor facilities, significantly enhancing the experience for both residents and visitors.
The site has undergone extensive upgrades. Brand-new outdoor fitness equipment now lines the walking path around the field, giving the community free access to exercise in a safe and scenic environment. New football goal posts have been installed, basketball apparatus have been replaced, benches and signage have been added, and the overall condition of the park has been vastly improved.
This project has been years in the making and represents a major investment in the health and wellness of our community. It reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to improving public spaces and recreational access for all ages.
“This isn’t just about new equipment—it’s about creating a better quality of life for our kids, our families, and our neighbors,” said Rich Hans, Superintendent of Recreation for the City of Wildwood. “Recreation is the heartbeat of any strong community, and this is a huge step forward for ours. I’m proud of what we’ve built here and excited to see it used every day by the people we serve.”
The City extends its sincere gratitude to the Cape May County Open Spaces Grant, whose continued support of community-level recreation made this transformation possible. Special thanks also go to Triad Associates for their assistance in securing and managing the grant, and to the dedicated staff of the Wildwood Recreation Department and Public Works Department for their hands-on work throughout the project.
Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr., the City Commissioners, Cape May County Commissioners, and Triad representatives will join City staff at the ceremony to officially dedicate the newly improved space.
We invite all community members and stakeholders to join us for this celebratory event. Please come out and help us mark this important step forward for Wildwood.
