WILDWOOD, NJ – The City of Wildwood Board of Commissioners has adopted the 2025 Municipal Budget totaling $42,138,316, reflecting a decrease of $4,464,962 from the 2024 budget. The adopted plan demonstrates continued financial stability and disciplined fiscal planning, supported by strategic surplus use and growth in the City’s tax base.

The 2025 budget includes a 1.9-cent increase in the local purpose tax rate, raising the annual tax bill by approximately $44.00 for a home assessed at $225,000. The City remains under both the state spending and tax levy caps.

At the close of 2024, the City’s fund balance reached $5,155,620. The 2025 budget utilizes $2,928,909 of that surplus, leaving a remaining balance of $2,226,711 to carry forward.

Commissioner McConnell added, “Every department was challenged to take a hard look at its operations. This budget represents the collective effort of our entire team—department heads, staff, and all three Commissioners—to run as lean and efficiently as possible while continuing to move the City forward.”

Mayor Ernie Troiano stated, “We didn’t just budget for 2025; we looked beyond it. This is a multi-year approach that considers where we’re headed, not just where we are. By anticipating future expenses and making smart choices today, we’re building a strong financial foundation for tomorrow.”

Deputy Mayor Steve Mikulski added, “Our departments didn’t spend just to spend. They stayed resourceful and mindful of the taxpayer, making smart, lean decisions without compromising service or impact.”

Alongside conservative budgeting, the City continues to actively pursue external funding

sources. To date, the City has secured $31,859,935 in grant funding for major projects and public improvements, with an additional $6,848,320 in pending requests. These efforts significantly reduce the reliance on local tax dollars and help support long-term investment in infrastructure, public safety, and community development.
