Route 147, Route 109, Route 47 overnight lane closures this
week for paving work in Cape May County
Alternating traffic will be maintained during construction
(Trenton) – Route 147, Route 109, and Route 47 are scheduled to have overnight lane
closures this week as a pavement preservation project advances in Cape May County. The
closures are necessary to apply chip seal to the roadway. Alternating traffic will be maintained
overnight.
Monday, June 3
From 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, June 3 until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4, single lane
closures are scheduled on Route 147 in both directions between Route 9 and New York Avenue
in North Wildwood, and on Route 109 in both directions between Wilson Drive and Route 9 in
Lower Township.
Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5
From 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, single lane closures are
scheduled on Route 47 in both directions between the north end of the drawbridge over Grassy
Sound in Lower Township and Hawthorne Drive in Middle Township.
Thursday, June 6
From 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6 until 6 a.m. Friday, June 7, single lane closures are scheduled
on Route 109 in both directions between Wilson Drive and Route 9 in Lower Township.
The $6.5 million federally funded Route 47, 109 & 147 Pavement Preservation project will
improve pavement conditions on approximately three miles of Route 47 between West Rio
Grande Boulevard in Wildwood/Lower Township and Hawthorne Drive in Middle Township;
approximately two miles of Route 109 between Yacht Avenue in Cape May City and Route 9 in
Lower Township; and approximately four miles of Route 147 between Route 9 in Middle
Township and New York Avenue in North Wildwood City. Work is expected to be complete by
fall of 2024.
